On October 28 at the Youth Palace in Tarnów, a concert inaugurating the 11th edition of the Beethoven Academy Orchestra‘s original cycle entitled ‘Jeszcze Polska Muzyka’ was held. The main purpose of this concert series is to explore unknown masterpieces of Polish symphonic music.
Artists from the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, the renowned Polish Radio Choir, and the Silesian Opera performed together with soloist Mariusz Godlewski. They were conducted by Vincent Kozlovski and performed Roman Palester‘s diploma work from 1931 for the first time in history. Written to the words by Wespazjan Kochowski, Psalm No. 5 for baritone, mixed choir and orchestra was performed in the version edited in 1988 and recommended by the composer. The manuscript of the score was made available by the University of Warsaw Library.
The premiere concert performance was recorded, and will be released by ORFEO International later this year.
The evening was also complemented by the Symphony No. 4 by Johannes Brahms and the Overture in E flat major by Ignacy Jan Paderewski.
The ‘Jeszcze Polska Muzyka’ series is carried out with the support of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund, as part of the ‘Music’ and ‘Music trace’ program, carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
