The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami is once again partnering with the Chopin Foundation to present the 4th annual Frost Chopin Academy and Festival with the generous support of the M. Lee Pearce Foundation, the Patrick Park Foundation, and Olga and David Melin. This year’s live in-person Academy and Festival offers pianists up to the age of 30 the opportunity to immerse themselves in the works of Frederic Chopin and learn first-hand from the world’s most distinguished Chopin specialists. All lessons focus exclusively on works of Chopin. This year the principal teaching artists include: Garrick Ohlsson, Ewa Pobłocka, Dina Yoffe and Kevin Kenner.

The 4th Annual Frost Chopin Festival celebrates its live return with an excellent opening concert lineup. Two stellar pianists of two different generations will headline: 18-year-old JJ Jun Li Bui, who won 6th prize at the XVIII International Chopin Competition in Warsaw this past October, and the eminent Polish pianist Ewa Pobłocka, prize winner of the X International Chopin Competition. A specialist in the music of Chopin and J. S. Bach, Pobłocka recently recorded all of Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier, and will open the festival performing some of Bach’s most magnificent keyboard works. The concert also features JJ Jun Li Bui performing Chopin, Debussy, and Stravinsky. Miami’s beloved musicologist Dr. Frank Cooper joins again this year to introduce the concert program.
