On Saturday, March 12, the Chopin Music University in Warsaw will present a concert entitled “Z bliska i z oddali – In memoriam Joanna Bruzdowicz” [From up close and far away – In memoriam Joanna Bruzdowicz]. The concert program will feature three trios for flute, viola and piano by three Polish women composers—Joanna Bruzdowicz, Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska, and Ewa Serafin—and will celebrate the release of the CD of the same title. Originally planned for November last year, this concert was postponed after Joanna Bruzdowicz’s unexpected death on November 3.
The performers will include Joanna Maklakiewicz (piano), Marianna Żołnacz (flute), and Marek Bugajski (viola). They will be heard in Bruzdowicz’s trio, Polskie drogi i rozdroża. In memoriam czerwiec 1989 [Polish ways and byways. In memoriam of June 1989] and 16 Tableaux d’une exposition Salvador Dali for solo piano. The March 12 program also includes Ignatowicz-Glińska’s Apotropeion trio for flute, viola and piano, and Serafin’s Fire bilder fra Ragnarok [Four Images from Ragnarok] for the same ensemble.
