JS Bach Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 2 (Excerpts)
Piotr Anderszewski, piano
Warner Classics (January 2021)

Polish pianist, and former USC Thornton School of Music student, Piotr Anderszewski is regarded as one of the outstanding musicians of his generation. Since 2000, Anderszewski has been an exclusive artist with the Warner Classics/Erato label (previously Virgin Classics). His first recording for the label was Beethoven’s Diabelli Variations, which went on to receive a number of prizes. He has also recorded Grammy-nominated discs of Bach’s Partitas 1, 3 and 6 and Szymanowski’s solo piano works.

On his latest album, JS Bach Well-Tempered Clavier, Anderszewski takes a characteristically creative approach to Bach’s Das Wohltemperierte Klavier (The Well-tempered Clavier). Rather than recording all 48 of its prelude-and-fugue pairings, he has focused on 12 pairings from Book Two

…Bach can strike joy. And so does Anderszewski, in a recital that is as compelling as it is beautifully recorded.
–Harriet Smith, Gramophone Magazine

This latest recording for Warner Classics has now earned Anderszewski the 2021 Gramophone Award in the “Piano” category. This honor, from the prestigious Gramophone Magazine, adds to the list of many garnered by Anderszewski during his illustrious career so far.
