Last year we lost one of the most influential artists of the 20th-21st centuries, composer Krszystof Penderecki. The composer, who changed the history of music and captured the complex events of the last century in his works, was also a good friend of Lithuanian musicians therefore his loss severely affected that community of composers.

On July 15, the Vilnius City Municipality St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra presents a remembrance of this legendary creator in a concert dedicated to him. In addition to the Penderecki’s Sinfonietta for String Orchestra, the program will include works by other Polish composers – Maciej Bałenkowski, Wojciech Kostrzewa, and Andrzej Ojczenasz (winner of the 5th Krzysztof Penderecki Composition Competition).

These are today’s Polish composers who continue Penderecki’s tradition of creativity and authenticity. The program also includes De Profundis by Lithuanian composer Raminta Šerkšnytė. It is co-financed by the Polish Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport from the Culture Promotion Fund.
