“Music in the image. Image in the sound” is a series of concerts, workshops and lectures promoting contemporary music, organized by the Elżbieta Chojnacka Centre for Contemporary Harpsichord Music. The events will be held from 12 July to 22 November 2020 at the Palace in Rybna.
Musical works inspired by painting, literature, mathematics, architecture, industry, and the Silesian region will be presented in the series. The program includes premieres of works by composers Philip Czapłowski, Sławomir Kaczorowski, Tomasz Kamieniak, Dominik Lasota, Weronika Ratusińska-Zamuszko and Adam Wesołowski. The premiere screening of Maciej Jarolim’s movie Świat widziany dźwiękami and a meeting with its producers is also planned in September.
Renowned artists and scientists have been invited to participate in the series: Gabriela Szendzielorz-Jungiewicz, Beata Warykiewicz-Siwy and Piotr Kopiński (Academy of Music in Katowice), Krzysztof Kluszczyński (University of Technology in Kraków), harpsichordists Hanna Balcerzak and Aleksandra Gajecka-Antosiewicz, musicologist Piotr Oczkowski and sound engineer Krzysztof Sztekmiler (Academy of Music in Łódź).
The inaugural concert entitled “When music becomes an image,” with an accompanying exhibition of graphic scores, took place on 12 July at 6.00 p.m. Workshops for children and youth titled, “Music graphics”, will be conducted by Piotr Kopiński and take place on the same day at noon.
