In its most ambitious effort yet to bring the joy and artistry of opera to audiences everywhere during this season of closure, the Metropolitan Opera has invited some of the greatest contemporary opera stars to participate in an “At Home Gala,” singing from their home.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 pm EST, streaming live on the Met website, and will be available to view until Sunday evening. Polish soprano Aleksandra Kurzak and tenor Piotr Beczała will participate, along with a star-studded lineup from around the world.
The At-Home Gala is part of the Met’s urgent “The Voice Must Be Heard” fundraising campaign to support the company and protect its future. The annual Met Gala is typically one of the most important events of the fashion and social year in New York City—as well as a major fundraiser for the opera company—and features a themed red carpet that often hosts some of the most famous celebrities and fashion names from around the world.
