Violinist Linus Roth and pianist Florian Uhlig toured Europe from October 15 – 28 performing Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata, Op. 47, Brahms’s D minor Sonata, Op. 108, and Mieczysław Weinberg’s Sonata No.3, Op. 37. An interview with Linus Roth (who was the first artists to record all violin and piano sonatas of Weinberg), talking about and performing excerpts of Weinberg’s music can be viewed at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzOiuf2NEtg

The great discovery was Mieczysław Weinberg’s Violin Concerto (1919-1996). “In Molto Allegro, the piece quickly accelerates and the soloist proves his virtuosity. The second part, Allegretto, surprises with a slow, sad atmosphere. (…) The sound of Stradivari “Dancla” 1703 is beautiful. The artists move smoothly to Adagio. Roth casts a spell on the audience. Sensitive soloist and orchestra in perfect harmony interpret this part. The final Allegro becomes a thrilling finale. The audience is delighted and asks for an encore.” – in these words Westdeutsche Zeitung described a concert performed by Linus Roth with the Niederrheinische Sinfoniker, with which Roth began the season with four performances of the Weinberg Concerto.

Linus Roth is active promoter and founder of Weinberg Society, whose 100th anniversary will be celebrated in 2019.
