The 10th Music On The Heights International Festival Of Chamber Music, dedicated to Krzysztof Penderecki in honor of his 85th birthday, will be held on 1-18 September 2018 in Zakopane.

The festival is organized by the Mieczysław Karłowicz Association and the festival’s name refers both to the Tatra mountains which lie next to Zakopane, and to the high quality of music performed.

The first concert features the Kronos Quartet concert and their premiere of Jagoda Szmytka’s new piece. Works by Artur Malawski, Roman Maciejewski, Andrzej Panufnik and Dariusz Przybylski will be performed throughout the festival. Penderecki himself will perform his works with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra during the final concert.

In addition to music, the Miejsce Cinema will screen The Manuscript found in Saragossa (music by Krzysztof Penderecki), there will be exhibitions of painting and photography, and there will be chances to meet with festival artists at Dom pod Jedlami as part of the “Conversation Club on the Heights.”
