Young, resourceful, ambitious, unconventional, surprising and courageous—these epithets accompanied the selection of Andrzej Kwieciński (b.1984) as Composer of the Month, named by Poland’s largest music publishers, PWM Editions.

At the age of 21 in 2005, he had already won the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage Prize and followed it with scholarship prizes from the Netherlands’ Cultural Ministry (2008-2009) and the Witold Lutosławski Society (2010). Also, in 2010, Kwieciński was a prizewinner at the Young Masters XXI Competition for composers and in 2012 was nominated for the Gaudeamus Prize. Kwieciński’s Canzon de’ baci won First Prize and the Special Prize at the International Music Council and Radio France competition.

Kwieciński is one of the latest composers to make his music available in cooperation with PWM. Currently, their catalogue has three of Kwieciński’s works: Personaggi: Eurudice for choir, soloists and chamber orchestra, as well as super[P|PE]s DEMO and super[P|PE]s for violin and chamber orchestra. More works are surely to become available in the coming months and years.
