Under the baton of Agnieszka Kreiner, mezzosoprano Anna Lubańska and Gorzów Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra performed at the Gorzów Philharmonic on February 10. The evening was devoted to music by three great Polish composers living at the turn of the 19th and 20th century: Zygmunt Noskowski, Karol Szymanowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The program opened with Grzegorz Fitelberg’s arrangement of Szymanowski’s Etude in B-flat minor, Op. 4 No. 3, which is considered to be an excellent example of late Romantic music. The focal point of the concert, however, was Paderewski’s 12 Songs to words by Catulle Mendès, Op. 22, inspired by French traditions and music.  The concert ended with Noskowski’s Symphony No. 1 in A major.
