As part of tradition, the inaugural concert of the 2017 season of The Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Center will be held on January 8, 2017, at 7 p.m. in Lutosławice. The concert program will be performed by the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra, featuring the II Symphony of Krzysztof Penderecki (also called the “Christmas Eve” Symphony) and the VII Symphony of Antonín Dvořák, which is considered to be the most valuable work of the Czech composer.

The guest of honor at the opening concert will be the patron of the center – Krzysztof Penderecki, who will also conduct the performance of one of his pieces. The conductor of the rest of the concert will be Maciej Tworek, the adjunct of the Kraków Academy of Music. In 2002, Tworek started his conducting cooperation with Penderecki. The result of their work is the preparation of the ensembles from the National Opera to give the European premiere of the VIII Symphony conducted by the composer.
