In collaboration with the Nowowiejski Academy of Music and the Paderewski Pomeranian Philharmonic as well as the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the City of Bydgoszcz, and the Cuiavia-Pomerania Region, the Board of the Paderewski Music Association has organized the 10th International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz. Held November 6-20, 2016, this world-class event recurs every three years. During the Award Ceremony at the Pomeranian Philharmonic Hall on November 20, the President of the Paderewski Music Association, Prof. Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń and Director of the International Paderewski Piano Competition, Henryk Martenka, announced this year’s winners.

  • Hyuk Lee (South Korea) – First Prize and 30,000 Euros
  • Jakub Kuszlik (Poland) – Second Prize 15,000 Euros
  • Svetlana Andreeva (Russia) – Third Prize and 7,000 Euros
  • Elżbieta Bilicka (Poland) & Dina Ivanova (Russia) – Honorable Mention, 2,500 Euros

According to the long-standing agreement with the International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz, the first place winner is also invited to perform at the Paderewski Festival held annually in Paso Robles, California. It is our great pleasure to announce that Mr. Hyuk Lee will appear at the 2017 Festival in Paso Robles with a Gala Recital on Saturday, November 4. This very young and brilliant pianist is a talent to watch and his solo evening in California will also mark his American debut.
