Funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the musical spectacle SOUNDWORK by Wojciech Blecharz (above) will be performed on December 3 and 4 at the TR Warsawa. Originally premiered on October 14, the idea of SOUNDWORK is centralized upon sound traveling through the prism of chosen aspects of 20th and 21st century music. Contemporary music is often dismissed as difficult, as it is not easy to find the basic elements of music, such as harmony or melody. Fortunately, the show will try to define these all while exploring the richness of sound, intensity, roughness, tint and whispers of contemporary music. The music, unlike any other, also gives non-musicians the opportunity to create sound and music—a function practically extinct today.
The performance will be preceded by workshops, conducive to the auditory imagination. Participants will take part in musical laboratory, where they will build their own instruments from everyday items. The music created during workshops will serve as material for improvisatory composition as a means of expression and will be performed during the show. Participation in the workshop is open to all, regardless of musical ability.
