On November 19-21, the European Student Symphony Orchestra gave three concerts in Poland as part of their autumn tour. The project, organized by the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław as an event of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016, was addressed to young musicians from selected European universities. It created an opportunity to integrate the artistic academic community, including partner cities of Wrocław such as Lviv, Prague and Dresden.
The concerts took place in Katowice on November 19 (NOSPR Concert Hall), in Wrocław on November 20 (National Forum of Music) and finally, in Dresden on November 21 (Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber). Under the direction of Marek Pijarowski, the young musicians presented Academic Festival Overture, Op. 80 by Johannes Brahms, Violin Concerto in A major, Op. 8 by Mieczysław Karłowicz, Don Juan, Op. 20 by Richard Strauss and Suite No. 2 “Daphnis et Chloe” by Maurice Ravel, in collaboration with violinist Jacek Ropski and the Feichtinum Choir of the Academy of Music in Wrocław.
