On October 23, the Polish Association of Contemporary Music (PTMW) presented Audio Stage 2016, an evening of preludes and audio-stage monodramas at the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute in Warsaw. This year’s Audio Stage is a continuation of the series of audio-stage work premieres that was established in 2012. The project is dedicated to the performing arts, with the idea of integrating music with stage arts. Audio Stage features experimental music composers preparing pieces in cooperation with actors, mimes and dancers.
At the concert, premieres of four audio-stage monodramas composed by Aldona Nawrocka, Piotr Roemer, Adam Porębski and Andrzej Kopeć were presented. The works were performed by: Bartosz M. Martyna, Ewa Wojtkiewicz, Krzysztof Boczkowski and Aleksandra Dziurosz.
Each piece was preceded by musical preludes – a kind of small overture with the elements of instrumental theatre. The composer of the cycle of preludes was Agnieszka Stulgińska, and the performers are – clarinet player Michał Górczyński and cellist Robert Jędrzejewski.
The compositions were commissioned by PTMW, and financed as a part of the Work Support Fund of Association of Authors ZAiKS Scholarship [Fundusz Popierania Twórczości Stowarzyszenia Autorów ZAiKS]. The project is organized by the Downtown Warsaw Budget and ZAiKS.
Led by the artistic director of the project, Małgorzata Kołcz, the artists met with the public before the free concert.
