On February 10, mezzo-soprano Katarzyna Sądej and pianist Basia Bochenek performed a recital for the Music at the Carmel Valley Library concert series. Entitled “Art Songs of the 20th century, from France to Poland to the United States,” heir 45-minute program featured rare works by Lili Boulanger, Jerzy Petersburski, Ned Rorem, Charles Ives and Tom Cipullo.
Sądej and Bochenek have been collaborating for a few years and, now that both are based in Southern California, they are planning many upcoming projects, including a proposed recording featuring rarely performed and brand new art songs from Poland and the US.
