DUX Records

In mid-December, saxophonist Alina Mleczko and the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra recorded a CD of works by living composers, including: Edward Sielicki, Krzysztof Herdzin, Jerzy Derfel, Pawł Mykietyn and Jacek Grudzień. Sonatina für Alina’ is an engaging project, consisting solely of Polish works written for saxophone and string instruments. This is the first Polish album promoting both saxophone and composers interested in this instrument.

The CD was released in September 2014 on DUX Records, with a concert on September 27 at the TRAFO Trafostacja Sztuki in Szczecin.

Developed by Mleczko, the program of the CD and the concert presents the wide and unique range of sounds used in works that were composed for saxophone and string orchestra during the last 15 years. For the most part, the pieces on the program were composed for or dedicated to a specific soloist.

The material was recorded in Cedynia , the 750 -year-old Cistercian monastery. Watch a video of the recording at www.youtube.com.
