The application period for the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors, one of the most prestigious Polish performance competitions, is now open. Started in 1979, since 1982 the Competition has belonged to the World Federation of International Music Competitions based in Geneva. It is intended for artists under the age of 39. Application deadline: 15 July 2023.

Competitors who pass the 1st round of the competition will conduct the Henryk Mikołaj Górecki Silesian Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in a work by a Polish Composer in the 2nd round. The finalists, or participants of the 3rd stage of the Competition, will be awarded the following prizes and distinctions:

  • 1st prize – EUR 20,000 and the Golden Baton
  • 2nd prize – EUR 10,000 and the Silver Baton
  • 3rd prize – EUR 6,000 and the Bronze Baton
  • Three equal distinctions – EUR 4,000

The Competition is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund–a state special-purpose fund, as part of the ‘Music’ program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance. Honorary Patronage: President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
