On November 12 and 13, American pianist Drew Petersen, a laureate of the 2015 Leeds International Piano Competition, will present a program of Chopin, Beethoven, Ravel, Liszt, and Brahms as a part of the Chopin for All Concert Series. The Chopin Foundation began presenting the Chopin for All Concert Series in 1996 as a way to make high quality classical music, and especially the music of Chopin, accessible to the entire South Florida Community. It is also the Foundation’s way of supporting the many talented young American pianists that are featured at these concerts. The pianists are chosen in a variety of ways such as having distinguishing themselves in their communities, or through the Music Teachers National Association’s piano competitions. Many have benefited from the Chopin Foundation’s Scholarship Program for Young American Pianists, including Petersen himself, who was a consecutive recipient in the years 2009-2012. Occasionally, the concerts feature a young exchange artist from Poland, Kosovo or other countries where we’ve established partnerships.
