On February 27, the State Music School in the coastal city of Elbląg will host pianist Leszek Możdżer and maestro Marek Moś, who will lead the Elbląg Chamber Orchestra in a program of compositions by Możdżer and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki. The concert will feature Górecki’s celebrated Concerto for Harpsichord (or Piano), Op. 40 and Możdżer’s Seven Miniatures for Improvising Piano and Strings.

For Możdżer, a world-famous virtuoso pianist who is very fond of improvising, the Miniatures represent one of his first ‘real’ compositions, where the composer still relies on pliable use of musical material for the semi-improvised piano part as well as for the orchestra. According to Możdżer’s website, “… all the musicians will have lots of fun, since it’s really difficult to foresee where the interpretation [of the work] will go, since Możdżer is a performer who likes to experiment.”
