The finalists in the 13th Tadeusz Ochlewski Composers’ Competition, organized by the Polish Music Publishers (PWM Edition, Kraków), were recently announced. According to the rules, winning composers receive cash prizes (first prize: 1500 zł, award: 1000 zł), and winning compositions are published by and incorporated into the catalog of PWM for public usage.

The jury was composed of: prof. Romuald Twardowski – composer, Chairman of the Jury; prof. Catherine Sokołowska – choirmaster; prof. Paweł Łukaszewski – composer, choirmaster; Dr. Daniel Cichy – Editor in Chief of PWM. They awarded the following:

First prize: Krzysztof Ratajski for Rebounds for 5-part children choir to an original phonetic text

Honourable mention: Szymon Godziemba-Trytek for A Wonderer’s Song for 3-part children choir

Compositions recommended by the jury to be published by the PWM edition: Atrament by Piotr Stawarski and Kolebany i Obertas by Ewa Fabiańska-Jelińska
