From October 17 to November 23, a cycle of Karkowski/Xenakis events will take a place in Warsaw’s New Theatre. Dedicated to Zbigniew KarkowskI, the central theme of this series is an attempt to show the works of the Polish composer in the context of the influence of his master, Iannis Xenakis. The program features lesser known instrumental and vocal music by Karkowski, performed by his closest colleagues. In addition to concerts featuring Apartment House, Anton Lukoszevieze, Aleksander Gabrys, Kasper Toeplitz and Gęba Choir, movies with music by Zbigniew Karkowski and discussions with artists will also be presented.

The curator of the project is Monika Pasiecznik. The concert programs are focused on two threads: the influence of Xenakis’ music on Karkowski, and Karkowski’s instrumental music, which is definitely less known than his strictly electronic works.
